Iris Van Herpen’s Fall/Winter Haute Couture collection 2012/13

I was most impressed by this collection, I think it is my favourite Couture show this year. It was entitled ‘Hybrid Holism’. I don’t think it could have been better named. It was hybrid because it was completely new and fresh, I don’t think I’ve seen anything like it before and holism could be another word for ‘collection’. I have no idea what fabric she used across the collection, it looks like some kind of latex or rubber, shiny but flexible. To be honest I’m kind of reluctant to find out what it is, I think this would spoil the fantasy/mystery for me. I kind of like not knowing, though the designer in me wants to know exactly how it was made. My favourite look is the red futuristic warrior suit look. There was only one look I wasn’t keen on (not included here). Well done her. I was completely mesmerised when I first saw it.
